Living in Indonesia also means tasting of exotic local cuisine like Nasi Goreng, Satay or Spring Rolls. Demonstration of how to prepare those famous foods was organized as part of integrating more to the local culture. It was more for fun, extra-activities and socialising in Bali...
What to experience in the research project?
To experience the changing world on grass-root level for the local population the study group transfers to a place outside the mass tourism of Bali on a neighbouring smaller island. There tourism is not yet overcrowded and islanders still have traditional and
non-touristic income.
Participants work in groups on different key subjects which had been lectured in previous seminars, i.e. primary sector versus tertiary sector / sustainable development / value chain analysis /
culture and tradition / ethics of money etc. The groups are investigating different stakeholders, i.e. local population, visitors, investors, and businesses.
Study at EOC is not limited to sitting in the classroom but combines theory and practical experience: in the "informal sector" the majority of population is earning a living, so students learn about the problems and potentials by meeting the people at their woking environment.
Learning about important places of Balinese culture at Besakhi Temple at Mount Agung, Kintamani at Lake Batur and Ubud with Monkey Forest and traditional dance.
Experiencing the new culture in a Balinese way....
