Exploring Bali by Motorbike by Alexander M.

We have made three different tours in and around Bali, all by motorbike. You cannot really do the whole trip in one go, better make separate tour arrangements which makes it more relaxed (and not so painful...).

Tour 1: Our first motorbike tour started from Jimbaran in the South of Bali on one of the very less raining days in November here in Bali.

Tour 1: Our first motorbike tour started on one of the very less raining days here in Bali. We made our way up to Ubud. Here we enjoyed the deep Balinese culture and food. You should try Babi Guling and spare ribs in Naughty Nuri’s Warung. It’s delicious. One the next day we drove up the Mt. Batur in the rain. It was freezing. One top you couldn’t see anything. On the way to north suddenly the sun can out and we felt a hot breeze that was warming us up. After a lunch break at the north peak of Bali we made our way down to Amed. Here is the best spot for divers. The next day we went around the peninsula to Candi Dasa. It’s a great thing you should do here in Bali. The coast is comparable with the Coté d’Azur. In Candi Dasa we had a break at a German bakery and prepared us for the way back to Jimbaran.

Tour 2: This time we have started our trip on a sunny day. We took the main road up to the north, passed stunning views of rice terraces, and drove over the Strawberry hill, where you can find fresh fruits at every corner to two lakes that are surrounded by huge mountains. Here we took a break and after that drove further up to Lovina which is a famous tourist spot, especially for German tourist. It is popular for dolphin tours and its relaxed atmosphere. In the evening we had a couple of drinks in nice bars with live music. On the next day we started to discover the West of Bali. Here we drove past a monotonous, but still very unique countryside to Gilimanuk. That’s the place where all ferries leave to Java. After a break we made our way to Negara. In this area bull races take place in a certain time of the year. It is a good possibility to get to know local people and their way of life. After the races we headed along the coast to the rice capital Tabanan. After a short rest here, we took the way back to Jimbaran.

Tour 3: Because of bad weather during the first tour where we could not see the volcano Mt. Batur (it was in the clouds) and its lake we decided to make a third tour through the mountain. We drove from Jimbaran over Klungkung to the volcano. After a lunch break in one of the warungs there we headed south to Ubud. Here we spend the time enjoying the night life with Jazz, Reggae and other life music and of course a lot of Bintang. On the next day we had walk over the traditional market before we went home.
